Benefits of the Weight Watchers® Meetings

Studies show that people who try to lose weight with the support of group environment are more successful that those who try to do it alone. Although we did not attend Weight Watchers® meetings ourselves since we functioned together as our own "mini support group," for those of you who need a good source of in-person support, these reasonably-priced meetings provide a place where you can get coaching, support, advice and guidance on healthy food choices, exercise, and the best ways to reach and maintain your goals.

The meeting leader is also available to answer questions, share insights, and help you reach your goal. The leaders of Weight Watchers® meetings have lost weight themselves with Weight Watchers®, and continue to maintain their weight loss. They are trained experts in the program who really want to help you succeed.

In addition, you can share your journey with your fellow group members for support, learn from others' experiences, and trade tips, recipes, and so on with the group leaders and other members. At these meetings, you'll also have access to educational and practical materials to help you follow the plan.

Being a Meeting Member also entitles you to sign up for the Internet weight-loss companion to the meetings, Weight Watchers® eTools.

Where Can I Find a Weight Watchers® Meeting?

Weight Watchers® meetings are held all over the country. The Weight Watchers® website lets you search by zip code for meetings near you.

How Do I Get Started?

To get started with this approach, all you need to do is attend a meeting. You attend Weight Watchers® meetings once a week for less than an hour, and pay as you go. It is recommended that you arrive 30 minutes early for your first meeting in order to complete the registration process.

Each week you have a confidential weigh-in. If you do not wish to participate in the weigh-in on any given week, you can exercise the use of a special "No Weigh-in Pass." At the meetings, the group leader will present a different new topic each time on nutrition, activity, and healthy habits. You are not obligated to talk at the meetings; it is okay to simply listen.

When you're new, at the end of your first meeting, you'll have a special on-time Getting Started Session, lasting about 30 minutes, where your meeting leader will introduce you to all the details of the program so that you can get started immediately.
